Mona Lisas and Mad Hatters

I'm Kristin. I'm 23. I'm neurotic, awesome, insecure, ballsy, opinionated and loving. I have the most amazing life.

Love (in no particular order): Josh (aka sagansapien), my fur children, veggies (especially asparagus), pumpkins, sunflowers, when books are perfectly broken in, documentaries, sociology, feminism, carl sagan, weeds, chickens, my amazing, world-changing beautiful friends, futurama, human rights of all varieties, red wine, old trees and hammocks

Dislike: intolerance, injustice, hatred and condiments, particularly mayo

The Police “Synchronicity” red wine blend that came from the Wines That Rock wine club we got as a gift from Sarah and Nick, two of the best best friends ever. Can’t wait to see what rock legend inspired wine comes next (fingers crossed for the Grateful Dead!)

This may be one of the coolest banjos ever to exist.

…Josh and I need to learn how to play ours together.

Bluegrass version of “99 Problems” by Hugo. Oh, I just love a good banjo.

Dar Williams, “When I Was A Boy”

We listened to this yesterday in my Womens Studies class and I blogged about it in relation to the construction (and imposition) of gender on my body blog. It is a beautiful and touching song (and commentary on the way our society polices gender, even among children).

Life goal: learn how to play my banjo.

“George Harrison was a giant, a great, great soul, with all the humanity, all the wit and humor, all the wisdom, the spirituality, the common sense of a man and compassion for people. He inspired love and had the strength of a hundred men. He was like the sun, the flowers, and the moon, and we will miss him enormously. The world is a profoundly emptier place without him.”
~ Bob Dylan

George Harrison, my favorite Beatle, hands down.

deaddave:

We are the music makers,
And we are the dreamers of dreams,
Wandering by lone sea-breakers,
And sitting by desolate streams;—
World-losers and world-forsakers,
On whom the pale moon gleams:
Yet we are the movers and shakers
Of the world for ever, it seems.

Since we all came from a woman, got our name from a woman, & our game from a woman. I wonder why we take from women, why we rape our women, do we hate our women? I think it’s time we killed for our women, be real to our women, try to heal our women, ‘cause if we don’t we’ll have a race of babies that will hate the ladies, who make the babies. And since a man can’t make one he has no right to tell a woman when & where to create one.

Mama you taught me to do the right things
So now you have to let your baby fly
You’ve given me everything that I will need
To make it through this crazy thing called life
And I know you watch me grow up and always want whats best for me
And I think I found the answer to your prayers

And he is good, so good
He treats your little girl like a real man should
He is good, so good, he makes promises he keeps
No he’s never gonna leave
So dont you worry about me
Dont you worry about me.

Carrie Underwood-“Mama’s Song”

I swear this song is exactly what I want my my mom to know. <3

The whole thing is remembering, this is who we are. Remember who we are? We are in reality a group of misfits, crazy people, who have voluntarily come together to work this stuff out and do the best we can and try to be as fair as we possibly can with each other, and just struggle through life.
